THE EMPEROR’S TOMB: No Rest for the Wicked
Wandering through the realms of Tantra, it is but inevitable to encounter an unholy cabal of monsters and bosses. These hideous rouges are the minions who make life a living hell for those who dare to cross their paths. Many foolhardy warriors have met their sudden demise at their hands. Yet, there are still a daring few who rise above their limitations in order to vanquish their seemingly invincible adversaries. Alas, those sporadic victories would only be an ominous foreboding to the uneasy torment that lies in the bowels of the earth. A new breed of evil will awake to sow terror and destruction unforseen in the annals of Tantra. This time, there will be no rest for the wicked. Before the escalation of chaos, there was once an emperor who was imbued with unimaginable powers, a quasi-god so to speak. He was a swashbuckling hero who liberated numerous lands from the grip of the malevolent Maras, thereby endearing him to the people. The eternally grateful populace would eventually proclaim him as supreme ruler and emperor – the King of the North Star. Years passed, he took a wife and was eventually blessed with twin daughters who would become skilled warriors like their father. Nothing it seems could disrupt the idyllic tranquility pervading in the kingdom. Unfortunately, this utopian ideal would soon come to an abrupt and shocking end. The emperor was felled by an arrow during one fateful skirmish. It was a catastrophe of mysterious proportions as he was believed to be impervious to mortal wounds. Gone was the divine sanction emanating from the gods. The twins and the remaining warriors were crestfallen upon his death. As a fitting tribute, they constructed a cavernous tomb that would serve as the emperor’s glorious resting place. A fanatical group of the emperor’s most-trusted warriors also volunteered to be buried alive with him in the tomb. These noble heroes would serve as his guardians in his otherworldly kingdom, protecting the sanctity of the throne from all would-be trespassers.
Finished with the task of burying their father, the twins then embarked on a bloody reprisal war. Soon, their blind rampage completely corrupted their beings, making them easy prey to the forces of darkness. The countless battles also took its toll on their frail bodies. Weak and powerless to fight, they sought the aid of the dark god – Cali. The twins sold their souls in exchange for a promise of invulnerability. Alas, they were simply no match for the combined might of their enemies. Like their father before them, they succumbed to the brutalities of war. In a ceremony betting their royal stature, the twins would also be buried in the same underground chamber of their father. Entombed with them was a corps of the kingdom’s finest fighters. Father and daughters were reunited once again, guarded by the same warriors who would have unselfishly died for them in battle. In their catacombs, the twins lay, waiting for the day when Cali would summon them from the afterlife. Those who seek to disturb their slumber must be prepared to face the wrath of sheer evil that has been buried for thousands of years. A terrible price to pay for one’s morbid curiosity or foolish bravery. Grizzled gamers will be scared out of their wits as more exhilarating quests and seemingly-invincible monsters reside in the Emperor’s Tomb. One must have a character level of 60 and above in order to gain passage to the lair of the undead. However, possessing a high level is by no means a sure guarantee of survival. Upon entry, the gamer will be confronted with the sheer vastness of the tomb that seems to offer a chilly embrace to everyone who dares to walk in the womb of the wicked. The rich and detailed 3D environment provides a dynamic visual feast full of lush imagery. Within its environs are a slew of labyrinths and passageways that takes the gamer to totally unexpected encounters with the undead. These ghostly encounters are fast and hard-hitting with fatalities aplenty.
In this spooky burial chamber, the Emperor’s guardians are a fighting force unmatched in all of Tantra. Many will fall by the wayside in a matter of seconds. It will take a coordinated attack to bring these hellions down. Having a high level and first-rate items are no guarantees for victory. The adage “strength in numbers” holds true in this map as the action is going to be relentless and brutal. When the smoke of battle clears and the minions have been annihilated, the Emperor himself will rise from his sleep to slay all trespassers. He awakes to seek retribution, ensnaring fresh souls as offerings to the dark powers. This is the penultimate battle that will test every gamers skills and resolve – a means of separating the pretenders from the gritty and fearless warriors. Brace yourselves and gear up for battle as the legion of darkness unleashes their vicious and lethal retribution. A word of warning: the Emperor’s Tomb is not for the meek and mild. Here comes the reckoning day…
