PART 1

It was a travesty that such a daring crime occurred in broad daylight. Mandara was a town devoid of criminal activities. People came and went but reports of untoward incidents were unheard of. Yet, one of their beloved townfolks, Kirika, was just victimized by a grand-scale robbery.

A pair of thugs took off with 2 million rupiahs (both carrying a million each) from Kirika’s stash. The heist was over in a matter of minutes, hardly causing a stir within the village. By the time the people discovered what transpired, the bandits (and known killers) were long gone. Kirika was crestfallen and seemed to be in a daze. The sheer amount of money taken was simply astounding. It amounted to almost all of her entire lifetime’s earnings.

Summoning strength in times of great adversity, she made a bold proclamation to the town’s people. She decreed that anyone who could recover the rupiahs would be entitled to half of the entire amount. No questions asked.

And so began the hunt to recapture the precious stash. Fortune seekers and adventurers from far and wide took up the daunting challenge. The task drew numerous takers, but only two enterprising individuals will be rewarded for all their hardships and troubles. Will the risks far outweigh the rewards?

PART 2

After a long and painstaking search, the loot was finally recovered in separate locations. However, the killers were nowhere to be found. In their haste to elude their pursuers, they forgot to hide their spoils. The duo who discovered the stash couldn’t hardly believe their luck either.

They returned to Mandara like conquering heroes. Kirika was overjoyed upon receiving her precious rupiahs. As promised, she gave half of the amount to the two finders. A grandiose celebration ensued as Kirika tendered a thanksgiving party. Everything was the way it was again in Mandara.

It was not meant to last as the same robbers struck again. This time the victim was Ashuri. Like Kirika, she offered the same reward to anyone who could recover her rupiahs, also amounting to 2 million. A sense of strange de ja vu permeated all over town. Once again they would venture out to aid one of their own.

The trail leading to the treasures would once again be traversed….
